Welcome to the website of Lodge Plantation Glasgow, No. 581 on the roll of the Grand Lodge of Scotland. Our lodge was constituted on the 6th of February 1876, and originally met in the Plantation area of Glasgow. A brief history of the lodge can be found on this site. Today we still meet in the South West district of the city, and the lodge retains strong links with the area and local community. |
Lint Riggs or 'fields of flax' is a reminder of Falkirk's agricultural past also present in names like Cow Wynd, Bean Row and Newmarket Street. Until the middle of the 18th Century linen was the major clothing material in lowland Scotland though there is no record of major production in or around Falkirk. Before 1903 the street was just wide enough to allow a horse and cart to pass through but the great improvement scheme of that year produced the present layout with several fine sandstone buildings. Most striking in the Masonic Temple on the south-east side with its classical Corinthian style of architecture and a fine inscribed door entrance complete with balustrade. It is the only Masonic Temple in the district and was completed in 1906 for Lodge Callendar No.588, the second lodge of freemasons to be established in the town. The internal decoration and furnishing is very interesting, especially the outstanding painted windows with their floral patterns. |
The Masonic Temple is located on John Street, just off Shore Street, the main road through Gourock. At present the Lodge Temple is undergoing extensive repair work following the identification of structural damage at the start of the 2007/08 session. The Brethren of Lodge Firth of Clyde were consulted as to the courses of action available and voted overwhelmingly to work to retain their historic Temple building. |

Freemasonry is an international Fraternity and I am therefore delighted that, through the world wide web, we are able to showcase Ballochmyle R.A.C. No. 722 to the entire world. Within our pages Companions will find much of interest, whilst those who have a serious interest in Freemasonry may be encouraged to extend the teachings of the Craft Degrees by becoming members of the Royal Arch. |
Historically, the Gaius Cornelius Tacitus lodge no.740 at the Orient of Terni is the first of the five present day lodges in the city of Terni. Based on different sources, we are able to trace very ancient roots for it. A first 'Tacitus' was founded in 1862, which was dissolved with the taking of Rome on the 20th of September 1870. We later find a Scottish 'Cornelius Tacitus' Chapter at the start of the twentieth century, which was an offshoot of the 'Petroni' Lodge. |
As Right Worshipful Master I warmly welcome you to the website of Lodge Pollok, Pollokshields No 772 on the Roll of the Grand Lodge of Scotland. It was in 1890 in Buckhaven, a small coal mining and fishing community in the Kingdom of Fife on the Firth of Forth almost due North of Edinburgh, where 12 brethren from 8 various Lodges, who had seen the Light, were desirous of extending the benefits of the Craft in this part of the County, which could not be accomplished without having a regularly constituted Lodge. The Lodge now meets on the first and third Thursday of month September to April. |
Brethren welcome to Lodge Thane of Fife No.781 Website. The Lodge was approved by the Grand Lodge of Scotland on 4th February 1892. The lodge name is derived from from Ben Cleuch the highest hill in the Ochils. The first members were drawn from the typical jobs in the area at that time eg Inspector of the Poor, Cloth Finisher, Grocers, Potato Merchant, Woolsorter, Spinner, Engineman. The Lodge records show the war years and mentions the First War: detailing the losses to the lodge of those who served in this conflict and those also affected by this tragic event. |
Masonic Lodge at Kirk Loan in Edinburgh founded in 1892. Our Temple is small but full of character and is much the same today as it was in 1892, except of course we now have electricity. The Masters dais incorporates a fine War memorial, which immortalises the brethren of the Lodge who gave their lives for their country during both world wars. Visiting brethren are assured a warm welcome and a trip back in time when they enter St. John Corstorphine No. 788. |
A petition to Grand Lodge of Scotland was drawn up on Wednesday, 1st March (St. David’s Day) 1893. The first name proposed for the Lodge was “St. David’s, Polmont Station”. Four weeks later the name was changed to “Lodge Polmont”. A charter was granted, numbering Lodge Polmont 793 on the Roll of the Grand Lodge of Scotland. |
Masonic Lodge in the Province of Monmouthshire Wales. The Masonic Lodge of St. Johns 818, Abergavenny recently donated a television and DVD player to GYPT as the result of a raffle at one of their social events. This particular gift was given apon the Lodge Charity Steward hearing that a member of staff had to bring in their own personal TV and Player from home when it was needed to review rehearsals etc. |
The first step in gaining the Charter was a meeting of 14 Freemasons held at the Errol Arms Hotel on the evening of 9th December 1897. A list of 33 brethren residing in the Carse between Glencarse and Longforgan lay on the table. These villages may have been chosen as the westerly and easterly points beyond which regular travel to lodges in Perth and Dundee respectively was deemed impracticable. |
