"The genius and influence of Robert Burns is beyond analysis and criticism and his right to a place amongst the immortals is as incontestable as the right of Scotland to a place amongst the nations." "The brightest of all our lyrists, the most human of all our satirists, neither favourite of a class or clique. Burns' is truly a star in the firmament - more touching, sublime poetry, than that of Robert Burns, was never written." "Burns was a poet, not just of a country, or of a generation, but of all time." |

The Provincial Grand Lodge of Sutherland is the governing body for six lodges within the County of Sutherland, this is a widespread area, not heavily populated, in fact, quite the opposite. The 2001 Census states that Sutherland has a total population of 13,778. Of this, approx 8000 people live in settlements of over 800 people (Helmsdale, Brora, Golspie, Dornoch and Lairg), and the rest live in smaller towns, villages and crofting communities. With its small, scattered population, Sutherland does not have any extensive built-up areas. |

Welcome to the website of Lodge Dumfries Kilwinning No.53 on the roll of The Grand Lodge Of Scotland. Dating prior to 1575, we are proud to be the oldest masonic lodge in the province of Dumfriesshire, South-West Scotland. The town of Dumfries, known to many as "The Queen Of The South", is a lively, modern rural town with many things to see and do. The town has many places of interest, particularly due to its links to two of Scotland's most famous historical characters - Robert The Bruce and Robert Burns (Burns' son-also called Robert-was a Past Master of the Lodge). |
The Right Worshipful Master, Brother Kevin Milne, & the Brethren of The Keith Lodge of Peterhead # 56 would like to welcome you to our new website.
