On the ninth day of April 1895, a group of Masons gathered together at the home of Clinton B. Ripley to discuss the formation of a new lodge in Honolulu. Brother Henry E, Cooper, the Junior Past Master of Hawaiian Lodge, spearheaded, engineered, organized, and obtained the proper documentation needed to institute a new lodge and laid the cornerstone to erect the new lodge. Pacific Lodge No. 822 was chartered by the Grand Lodge of Scotland through the District Grand Lodge of Queensland. In 1910, this Lodge transferred to the Grand Lodge of California and became known as Honolulu Lodge No. 409. On May 20, 1989 the Grand Lodge of Hawaii was founded. |
Freemasonry is the oldest and largest world wide fraternity dedicated to the Brotherhood of Man. In our Province the governing body is called the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Canada in the Province of Ontario. It is under the leadership of the Grand Master. He presides over the 53,000 Masons who belong to one or more of the 571 lodges in our jurisdiction. Each of these lodges is under the direction of a Worshipful Master. |
Hawaiian Lodge, Free & Accepted Masons, is the oldest American Masonic Lodge in the State of Hawaii. It received its dispensation to form the twenty-first constituent lodge of the Grand Lodge of California on January 12, 1852, and is also one of the oldest Masonic Lodges in that jurisdiction. Its thirteen founders included seven members of Lodge Le Progres de l’Oceanie, established in Honolulu under the Grand Lodge of France in 1843, and the two Lodges have had a close relationship ever since. (Although “Lodge Le Progres” was the first Masonic Lodge in Hawaii, it did not meet between 1850 and 1855, and its charter was treated as suspended until 1859.) |
Lancaster Lodge No. 104 F. & A. M. was first chartered by the Grand Lodge of Kentucky on August 29, 1838. Its charter was arrested October 24, 1889. The original charter being lost, a new charter bearing the same number was issued to a lodge organized on October 24, 1873. The Lodge organized in 1873 became defunct in 1890. With new interest in Freemasonry in Lancaster, the Lodge was reorganized in 1892 an on October 19, 1892; the present charter bearing the same number 104 was presented. For the past one hundred years, Freemasonry has remained vigorous in Lancaster. |

M. was instituted. Checking the records of our Lodge we find it was officially instituted as a Lodge on May 2, 1923, less than six months after having been granted the privilege of functioning under dispensation granted November 28, 1922. |
Historically, the Gaius Cornelius Tacitus lodge no.740 at the Orient of Terni is the first of the five present day lodges in the city of Terni. Based on different sources, we are able to trace very ancient roots for it. A first 'Tacitus' was founded in 1862, which was dissolved with the taking of Rome on the 20th of September 1870. We later find a Scottish 'Cornelius Tacitus' Chapter at the start of the twentieth century, which was an offshoot of the 'Petroni' Lodge. |
